The picturesque island town of Lockeport is joined to the mainland by Crescent Beach and its causeway. It is renowned for its fine white sand beaches and friendly people. With a population of around 700, the community is rarely busy except during its major festivals - Canada Day Celebrations which run from June 24th to July 1st and include Ellen Page's favorite event called the "Grease Pole" , a concert in the park and fireworks ; The Harmony Bazaar - Festival of Women and Song held on July 24th to 26th and the Sea Derby held from August 7th to 9th.

Lockeport's Annual Christmas Bird Count was held on Sunday December 27th with a total of 50 species recorded.
